89: Joy of Pokemon | ||||||||
Dodgy
Synopsis
Tracey is adamant that it was Joy he saw despite Ash and Misty's reservations. Much like Brock, Tracey knows his Joys when he sees 'em! He even goes so far as to do his own version of Brock's explanation on the differences in The Officer Jenny's by mentioning all the subtle differences of this Joy, using... of course, the metric system! Metric system, hooray! Landing on the island where Joy's kayak was left, it is revealed that the Nurse is a size 7 shoe, but Tracey's detective skills come up short when he gets to stone. "It's a lot easier to follow footprints in sand than stone," Misty points out, and Ash redundantly offers, "Unless they've stepped in a paint bucket." Paint bucket? geez Ash. A giant Magikarp launches itself from a nearby pond, startling everyone, and Tracey is quick to take measurements while Ash calms his girlfriend down by assuring Misty that all a Magikarp can do is splash, so they're safe. For some bizarre (American) reason, Tracey converts the metric system of meters to feet, how bizarre is that? Meanwhile, Super-Joy arrives on the scene and gives Magikarp some calcium tablets before picking (!) the giant up and flinging it back into the water. The steroids seem to be working wonder, having increased her should width and muscle tone, although unfortunately her testosterone output is greatly increased and her breasts are becoming large pectoral muscles. Magikarp appears to be in freaky Magikarp love, and Joy tells it she thinks the same, but getcha mind outta da gutta! This is a family show for gosh sakes! Sherlock Tracey, meanwhile, tries all his best moves to impress Joy, hoping to get his freak on, but Ash and Misty (blind to everything else but their love) interupt him before he can be turned down or picked up. When Joy offers to feed them in her clinic (Ash's stomach makes it's regular, recurring appearance yet again) Freeloader Ash celebrates, and once in the clinic Game Boy owners will instantly recognize the muzak playing in the background. Since Joy acts as a roving Nurse, going from Island to Island, Ash, Misty and Tracey are all to eager to help out, but are quickly left behind by the steroid enhanced prowess of Nurse Joy's powerful arms. After helping several Pokemon, the trio lose Nurse Joy and then finally find her kayak empty. They begin to worry that something has happened (no one mentioned dead or killed, although the body language is clear) and when a small pink bubble appears in the water, they nervously approach, thinking it could be a dead Chansey. BUT IT'S JIGGLYPUFF! JIGGLYPUFF'S BACK! Before our happy balloon thing can sing for them, Ash, Misty and Tracey are zooming off in total terror, adrenalin doing for them what steroids have done for Joy. Finding Joy at last (no, Ash and Misty don't finally get it on, I mean Nurse Joy), she offers to take them beneath the water to see her treat an ill Cloyster. Misty disappears around this point, while Ash and Tracey leap into the water to watch Joy in action. It must be noted at this point that a scene has been cut. A point which Tim makes, a point which is utter bollocks. You see, poor Chubby (Tracey) has to suck in his gut before pulling his waistband over his fat belly, and as he attempts this the others point and laugh at his chubby self. The scene was cut because it was deemed in ill taste for most audiences, but if you look you'll notice that Tracey is holding his breath in the entire time and that his waistband is right up on his belly. Yes, well, none of that is true. Personally Lex feels this episode should be re-named to "The Joy of Tracey" for just that. He gets his gear off and finally reveals his stunning body, nicer than Brocks. A scene that Lex had to watch and re-watch several times to saver the moment and leave it embodied in her mind. And thank all things good and proper that Ash isn't wearing his Go-Go Boy shorts from Holiday At Aopulco. As Tracey watches in admiration, holding a happy look on his face despite the exertions of holding that massive belly of his in (SHUT UP TIM), Ash loses his breath but before he can escape, is captured in the lust filled embrace of a horny Dewgong. The next scene is cut out, we find Ash, Misty, Tracey and Joy back in Joy's clinic, Joy saying she's sorry but Dewgong was just playing with him. What happened Ash? What kind of play, hmmmm? Come on, don't be coy, fess up. And just where the hell was Misty? Hanging out wherever Brock went to back in Cerulean City Showdown? Joy tells the story of her life and [CUTNESS ALERT!] how she met a baby Magikarp and restored it to health. As a small girl she still wore a nurse hat, but with a flower rather than a Red Cross symbol, and while on one of the 'Pleasure' Cruises her 'very, very close' family often went on meet it again, only now grown much larger. Heading out in a Hurricane (steroids have screwed with her brain, it seems) Tracey gets very worried and decides to head out after her. Not wanting to be upstaged, Ash decides to go along in order to impress Misty, who just wants to go back inside. After wiping out in their kayaks (IMPORTANT! THEY DISAPPEAR AT THIS POINT!) they use their Pokemon to pull them to safety, although Psyduck also pops out and still can't swim. The next day on the Island (this Hurricane did surprisingly little damage, not a single tree on the tiny island is knocked over) the Kayaks are suddenly back. Finally Team Rocket appear - hooray! - and Meowth and Jesse engage in some clever wordplay. James, given to moods and also fits of depression like all great Rr-Teests, wonders if they can hope to win this time and Meowth confidently proclaims they will win thanks to his special invention, then cheekily calls James Jimmy! Captured by a clever magikarp-missile-net developed by Meowth Enterprises, even Ash knows that it's Team Rocket. The submarine surfaces and, despite having a periscope sticking out of it's head, Nurse Joy mistakes it for her Magikarp. Steroids man, steroids, they're bad news. Nurse Joy, struck with one of the severe mood swings that are the hallmark of steroid abuse, breaks down and starts crying while thinking about the Baby Seal she's supposed to be healing. Drawn by love for Joy and hate of James, Magikarp appears and starts battering the submarine Magikarp (anyone else see this coming?) which frightens our beloved Trio until Meowth clicks that flesh is weaker than steel (just ask John Henry Irons). However, Magikarp is big enough, it's fought enough, it's angry enough, it just needs one more element to evolve. James. Yes, our beloved gay Rocket-Man is a natural Evolution Stone to Magikarp, he can't help but force their evolution and within moments they're blasting off again as Gyrados smashes them away. Ash, Misty and Tracey are terrified as Gyrados approaches, but it nuzzles happily against Nurse Joy (boy, is that ever a frightening sight!) and then frees them. Joy belatedly remembers the existance of a Pokemon Gym on Naval Island and tells Ash, and he excitedly decides to head off that way while Tracey begins one of many drawings of Nurse Joy, although the rest will be unsuitable for viewing by Ash or Misty. Oh that Chubby!
