Synopsis
Ash and Tracey instantly get excited at the prospect of not only helping find other fossilised Kabuto, but also the possibility of being on t.v. Ash mugs it up for his Daddy - Tracey is also trying to impress Professor Oak - and casually adds, "Oh, hi, Mom," as an afterthought. Misty, meanwhile, is getting increasingly agitated at Ash not paying attention to her and quickly attacks her beau, grabbing him from behind and shaking him around so that he'll turn his ignorantly adoring gaze back onto her. Jesse watches these goings on from her Magikarp Submarine, leading to James complaining that she should be peddling. She makes no attempt to do so until the prospect of capturing Kabuto fossils and becoming famous enters the picture, and suddenly Jesse's peddling harder than James and Meowth combined. Say what you like about Jesse, she works hard for fame. Once on the island, our beloved Team Rocket start surreptiously following Ash, Misty, Tracey and the archeological team - who are led by Nurse Joy! Yes, it seems that not all the Joy's go into the family business - unaware that they're all being followed by a mysterious stranger. James is wearing some hideously gauche clothing that he normally wouldn't be caught dead in, and it's probably the weight of this fashion emergency that's holding him down rather than all the gear he is carrying. When Jesse complains that he needn't have brought all the gear our gay friend becomes VERY bitchy and retorts that no one asked her to bring her nasty attitude! It's at this moment that a giant boulder thrown by the mysterious stranger is diverted by a couple of Machoke and knocks James over the side of the cliff. This is going to hurt! proclaims James as he plummets to his doom, but fear not gentle reader, James has too much style to die, he'll be back. As Jesse and Meowth exchange a worried glance, Pikachu and Ash chase the mysterious stranger after he initiates another rock slide. Ash is in total hero mode again, probably thinking that Misty is watching, but after tackling the stranger he realises that he's much, much bigger than our emotionally crippled ten year old. The others arrive just after the dark figure has warned Ash to get off the island, and stepping out of the shadows he reveals himself to be..... Ed Asner? Yes, it seems T,V's Grandpa moved to this deserted Island following the cancellation of Thunder Alley and proceeds to make dramatic warnings in a theatrical fashion James would be proud of, with lighting effects straight out of the WWF. After Misty points out to old man Asner that he's doing more damage to the Island by trying to get them off he gets very agitated, but before he can embarrass himself by trying to attack Misty and having his ass handed to him on a stick, an archeologist arrives to inform them they've found the Kabuto. Of course, once in the cave and surrounded by countless Kabuto Fossils, Team Rocket arrive again (James looking much happier back in his costume, and none the worse for wear for that fall) and throw a bomb at Ed Asner (for obvious reasons, we mean, it's Ed Asner dude!). He quickly throws it to Tracey who bops it on to Nurse Joy (man, Brock would fall on a bomb for a Joy, come on Chubbo, those extra layers will protect you!) who passes it on to Misty and then on to Ash, who doesn't throw it away, just stares at it blankly. As in life and in sex, Ash just doesn't get it. Team Rocket escape with The Kabuto as the moon turns blood-red before them (this is not only the first sign of The Apocalypse, but apparently also of the sinking of a desert island) and suddenly they're coming alive, scuttling free and eating everything in sight (including the film crews camera!). On Team Rocket's balloon, Jesse stares in fright, Meowth is angrily trying to pull a Kabuto off his face and James.... James is laughing as a Kabuto does something exceedingly dodgy in his chest area, particularly close to his nipple. James, I know it's been a while buddy, but come on, a Kabuto? The island, now bereft of the fossilised Kabuto to hold it in place, beings sinking and old Grandpa, recovering slightly from his alzheimers, suddenly remembers the second part of the prophecy and tells them to run to the forest and build rafts. And build they do, a giant, well constructed raft built in a matter of minutes. Climbing on board, Ash and Misty use Lapras, Squirtle, Staryu and Goldeen to drag them to safety. It should be noted that Ash appears to have magical rope, which ties itself up into several nooses in mid flight and wraps itself securely around it's chosen Pokemon. Despite the large number of people on the raft, it appears that only Misty and Ash are on it during the escape sequence. The reason for this? Quite simply it's because in this time of crisis, in this time of stress, our two love-boids only have eyes for each other and Chubby be damned. As The Island sinks and Ash and Misty become aware of the others again, we are actually told the moral of the story. Always listen to Grandpa. Final note : The Reporter notes that the events occurring are more exciting than her 2 part special on Kadabra Spoon Removal. Now, we don't think we were talking about removing the spoon from their hands, ya know what we mean? Ya know? Ewwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
