267: Can't Beat the Heat! |
Dodgy Synopsis
Can't Beat the Heat! Ash tells Heracross to slide behind a rock to hide from Blastoise's Hydro Pump, but the blast of water smashes through the rock, hits Heracross and slams it backwards, knocking it out as Gary's cheerleaders cry out in delight. Misty is worried, Gary's Blastoise is pretty damn powerful, and Brock says that there was nothing Ash could have done to defend Heracross against it. Well umm, it could have flown out of the way? Ashıs next move is to choose.... Muk! Yes the freaky fetishist of Heracross is replacing by the mauling molester, Muk! Gary orders a skull bash, which staggers Muk back, but then it roars for more and blasts Sludge Bomb at Blastoise, which uses Rapid Spin to knock the attack away. Blastoise then launches itself into Muk.... literally! Muk holds its ground and Blastoise finds itself enveloped in the bizarre Pokemon, which surrounds it and begins to smother Gary's most powerful Pokemon. In the crowd, Professor Oak says that he has experienced that attack before (haha!) and Delia goes right on snapping photos (like she does when Professor Oak "experiences" the attack?). Blastoise smashes free of Muk's enveloping form with Hydro Pump, and Ash calls Muk back before it takes any more damage, watched from the stairs at the top of the stadium by Harrison, who won his first round and has assured Ash that the dim young boy will make it through to the next round to face him. Ash sends in Bayleef which seems small in comparison to Blastoise, and Gary isn't surprised to see the Grass Type called in against his Water Type. He orders a Hydro Pump, but Bayleef dodges it by hitting Vine Whip and bouncing up off of the ground, shocking Gary who never expected to see such a move. While in the air, Ash orders Bayleef to use Razor Leaf, but Blastoise once again uses Rapid Spin to protect itself. Bayleef tries a Body Slam, but Blastoise takes the opportunity to bite down on Bayleef's leaf and tosses it again the wall, knocking it out! Oh man, Ash is getting his ass kicked! Ash admits that Gary is a pretty good trainer, but strangely he doesn't seem too worried about getting an ass-beating. The announcer declares that since three of Ashıs Pokemon have been knocked out, there will now be a five-minute intermission, and Ash heads back to Brock, Misty and Pikachu. Pikachu is eager to get into the fight, but Ash explains the rules say you must register your Pokemon before a battle starts, and Pikachu turns its head away grumpily. In the stands Oak says the battle is tough, and Delia notes that Ash and Gary havenıt changed a bit. Gary was always more confident than Ash, and therefore always took the lead. Professor Oak says that Gary really values Ash as a friend even if he wonıt admit it. The intermission ends and Ash reveals why he has been feeling so confident, because his next Pokemon is.... Snorlax! Yes the giant, dozy fat-ass pops in and Gary responds by sending in the quick and agile Arcanine, rather than trying to match power for power with his Blastoise. Arcanine tries a Take Down and Ash orders a body slam, but Arcanine dodges and leaves Snorlax off-balance, exposed to a Fire Spin, which traps Snorlax in place. But Snorlax doesn't need to be close for the move that Ash has in mind, and he orders a massive Hyper Beam which blasts through the Fire Spin and smashes directly into a surprised Arcanine, and.... Holy shit, one hit KO! Garyıs sends Nidoqueen back in and takes a leaf out of Ash's book by having it spring into the air by using its tail. Nidoqueen hits a Double Kick, and then tries a Hyper-Beam which Snorlax dodges, coming back with a swinging Ice Punch.... Another KO! Gary is again forced to acknowledge that Ash surprised him, how can a fatass like Snorlax be so fast? It's three on three now, but again Gary forgoes the power of Blastoise and goes for agility instead, sending in a Scizor. It quickly slaps Snorlax with Quick Attack, then dodges a Hyper Beam and scores a direct hit right in Snorlax's face and.... the fat-ass falls! Knowing he has to defuse Scizor's agility, Ash sends in Muk, which absorbs a Quick Attack and then fires a Sludge Bomb which the quick Pokemon slips out of the way of. Scizor tries a Metal Claw but again Muk simply absorbs the attack.... but Gary was counting on that. With its claw stuck in Muk's body, Scizor lifts Muk bodily off of the ground and hurts it through the air, smashing it with Swift and leaving the molesting Muk with the tables turned, as it finds itself passed out at the feet of a sinister looking Pokemon. Ash has gone from getting his ass kicked to holding his own to getting his ass kicked again, and now he has only one Pokemon left. It seems he is once more fated to not make it past the Top 16 of a major tournament, because no one Pokemon can possibly beat... MOTHEFUCKING CHARIZARD! Yes it's goddamn motherfucking Charizard, and everybody knows that you don't want to be stepping to Charizard no matter whose block it is on. Everyone but Gary, who seems unconcerned as he orders a Steel Wing from Scizor, which zooms in and.... BOOM! Charizard leaps to meet Scizor and blasts it full in the face with Flamethrower, knocking it out with a massive blast and putting it down. It happened so fast that, in the crowd, Delia is disappointed that she missed another good photo opportunity, and Professor Oak assures her that there is plenty more where that came from. Oh dear. Garyıs sends in Golem, a powerful Pokemon strong against Fire Types. It uses Magnitude, sending a shockwave throughout the arena as Ash calls for Charizard to end things quickly with Seismic Toss, only to discover to his surprise (but no one else's) that Golem is too heavy to lift. Gary orders a Rollout from Golem, but this time it is Ash's Pokemon that is faster, and it hits a Dragon Rage that points Golem out for the count. It's down to one on one, Blastoise versus Charizard! Gary has the advantage, both due to Blastoise's type and the fact it has had a (small) rest while Charizard has just fought two strong Pokemon. But Ash doesn't seem worried, Charizard has always been dependable (except for when it wasn't), and he orders a Flamethrower immediately. Blastoise uses Rapid Spin to deflect the blast, and then lands a direct with Hydro Pump. Ash orders Charizard to fly up and get out of the attack, and then tells it to get in behind Blastoise. But Gary sees it coming and orders a Skull bash, knocking back Charizard as all those in the crowd that have been cheering on Ash (Macey, Jackson, Harrison, Oak, Delia, Brock, Misty etc) realise that things are going bad for their hero. Gary tells Ash that he can be a genius when he needs to be (haha!), but none of that thinking is gonna help him now! Hahahahahahahaha! Ash, genius, thinking.... ahahahaha! Ash scowls as he tries to figure out a way to get past Blastoise's Hydro Pump, and then he notes one of Charizard's lose Flamethrowers make a rock on the battlefield glow red and has a revelation.... and orders Charizard to attack the battlefield! Everyone is confused as hell, what's the point of attacking inanimate rocks.... and then Professor Oak notices that the rocks are melting down to slag! "What kind of crazy... I mean what a novel and unique strategy!" cries the Announcer as he realises that Ash has trapped Blastoise in place in a field of molten rock. Gary realises his Pokemon is completely exposed as well and tells it to cool the field down with Hydro Pump, but this just creates a massive burst of steam that obscures the field from everyone. The steam clears at last, and standing in the middle of the arena are Blastoise and Charizard, arms locked together as they struggle against each other. Gary is horrified, looked in together like that, claw to claw, Blastoise can't use Hydro-Pump and is completely open to any attack Charizard cares to unleash. Ash orders a Dragons Rage, and Blastoise withdraws its head to escape the attack.... and that means it can't defend when Charizard hauls it into the air and spins it around in a Seismic Toss, sending Gary's most powerful - and last - Pokemon smashing into the hard rock! Charizard hauls itself up and Blastoise.... Blastoise..... Blastoise staggers back to its feet and scowls! Has Charizard met it's match? Is Blastoise just as tough, if not tougher, than the mighty Dragon? Is it about to unleash a vicious attack and.... NO! BLASTOISE GOES DOWN! BLASTOISE GOES DOWN! ASH WINS! ASH WINS! HOLY SHIT! ASH BREAKS THE CURSE AND GETS PAST THE TOP 16 OF A MAJOR TOURNAMENT! Ash stands speechless as he watches Gary's last Pokemon fall, and across the field from him, Gary makes a slight, "Hmm!" noise and then turns and saunters away. Defeated. Pikachu leaps up to Ash and holy shit he finally realises, he ACTUALLY DEFEATED GARY! He, Brock, Misty and Pikachu celebrate, he's beaten Gary! He's beaten his greatest rival and his own 16th placing at Indigo! But Team Rocket has lost! Delibird has arrived on the scene and is hauling away their sacks of money from their souvenir stand. Jesse tries to physically restrain it, screaming at it that it's THEIR money goddammit, not Delibird's! But then Meowth goes over their sales figures, and notes that if their business keeps on going the way it has been, they could soon be completely, totally and 100% out of debt to everyone! Later that night, Ash meets Gary at the lakeside at his rival's request, where Gary hands him his half of their Pokeball. Ash is surprised, but Gary smiles and tells him that unlike before when he felt tying was just as bad as losing; his battle with Ash was so good that he feels like he won even though he lost! To Ash's great shock, the two shake hands and Gary wishes him the best of luck for the rest of the tournament. And so the next day, Ash stands on a grass field ready to face off against Harrison, as promised. He sends in Pikachu and Harrison laughs that he won't take it easy on him, sending in a Kecleon. The two face off as the episode ends, and the next will answer the question: Will Ash push ahead now that he has broken his Top 16 record, or will he face defeat after the long, long, long, long, long, long, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG meandering journey through Johto.
