265: Tie One On! |
Dodgy Synopsis
Tie One On! Jackson's Golduck and Quagsire have been beaten, as have Macey's Magcargo and Starmie (thought she didn't like Water Pokemon?) so now it is down to Quilava versus Poliwhirl for their final battle. Macey orders an attack and Jackson laughs that he won't let her.... and then he trips on his cape and falls on his face as Quilava blasts Poliwhirl with a Flamethrower so tough that it leaves a burnt silhouette on the wall that Poliwhirl is slammed against. Macey has won, and this creates a dangerous situation for Ash. If Jackson was to beat Ash (unlikely given what we've seen) then all three of them would be on three points each, and another set of matches would need to take place. Ash - as always - solves the Gordian knot by slicing through it, pointing out that all he has to do is win and then he'll be through to the next contest. Elsewhere, Bulbasaur and Squirtle are enjoying their reunion with some good time playing with each other in entirely heterosexual horseplay that is not at all homoerotic shut up! The twerps leave them playing and head into the Pokemon Centre, where Ash overhears Professor Elm's voice and quite rudely interrupts the phone conversation to say hello. The person on their side of the line seems okay with it though, and it turns out it is Jackson, who introduces himself to Ash. He explains that he started his journey after getting a Chikorita from Professor Elm, and they've travelled together ever since and now it has evolved into a Meganium. Ash points out that a Meganium might have been handy against Macey's Pokemon, and he explains he wanted to hold it back for a later match, but after his loss figures that maybe this wasn't the best idea. Professor Elm asks how Jackson's family is and he replies that he hasn't really been much in contact, and Elm warns him that even though being a Pokemon Trainer is important, nothing is as important as family. Meanwhile, Bulbasaur and Squirtle have gone on a walk and discovered an apple tree, and decide to have a bite. Squirtle is hungry, and surely nothing homoerotic can come of this, so Bulbasaur grabs down an apple with Vine Whip, only for another Vine Whip to grab the same apple. It's a Meganium, which has an Azumarill with it, and they both pull and tug on each others vines. Yep, nothing homoerotic at all happening around Squirtle. The apple splits in two and Meganium gives Azumarill the half it got, while Bulbasaur gives his half to Squirtle. Squirtle goes to grab a bite, only for the other half of the apple to be thrown in its face by Azumarill, much to the mirth of Meganium and its companion. Squirtle throws on his Squirtle Squad glasses and gets ready to throw down, but Bulbasaur plays peacemaker... until Azumarill slaps its face and drives Squirtle even wilder with anger. Bulbasaur once again convinced Squirtle that there is no point in fighting and they start to walk off, until Meganium trips Bulbasaur with Vine Whip.... and that's that, now Bulbasaur is ready to lay the smack down! Inside the Pokemon Centre, Professor Elm is telling Ash about how Tyranitar and Larvitar are getting on when they overhear other trainers mention there is a Bulbasaur and a Meganium fighting nearby. Both Ash and Harrison fear the worse and rush off to discover it is indeed their Pokemon, and try to break things up. The angry Pokemon are beyond being calmed by words though, and it takes more extreme measures as Harrison shows up on the scene and has Miltank use Heal Bell, calming everyone down with some groovy vibrations. Officer Jenny arrives on her motorbike demanding to know what is going on, and Harrison bullshits that the two Pokemon were simply sparring. Gary arrives as well and backs up the lie, and since it is easier than filling out an Incident Report, Jenny pretends to believe them, but warns Ash and Jackson that if their two Pokemon are caught fighting, they can both lose points or even be disqualified from the tournament. She heads off, and Ash thanks both Gary and Harrison for their help, only to get made fun off by Gary who laughs at him and Jackson and says that the Silver Conference isn't amateur hour. He heads off and Ash explains to Harrison that they grew up together, and Harrison correctly guesses they're rivals. Meanwhile, James is working on a new design for Team Rocket's souvenirs, insisting that he almost has it, even though he hasn't drawn a stroke yet. He EEEEEs that they can't rush genius, and then slashes with his brush and makes a zig zag stroke. Jesse and Meowth love it, and they decide to start production. Back in Ash's room, the twerps are checking out Jackson's team on the computer. Ash is going to use Cyndaquil to deal with Meganium, and throw in Pikachu in case Jackson suspects he'll use Cyndaquil and uses a Water Pokemon to deal with it. The next day the battle begins, Jackson goofing it up for the camera once more and saying hi to his Mum. He gets to choose first and he calls out Azumarill, so Ash goes with the obvious and sends in Pikachu which avoids Water Gun and blasts out a Thunderbolt. Azumarill deflects the electric attack with Bubble, then blasts Pikachu with Icy Wind and smacks it with an Iron Tail. Pikachu takes the hit but holds onto the tail, then fires a close range Thunder Attack and knocks out Azumarill. That was for Squirtle and Bulbasaur, motherfucker! Jacksonıs sends in Magneton next, and it shines brightly, a different colour than normal. Pikachu tries a Thunderbolt that doesn't have any effect, and Magneton tries the same with similar results. Pikachu tries a Quick Attack but Magneton dodges and hits Thunderwave, zapping Pikachu with chains of electricity and holding it in place as it lets rip with a Tri Attack and knocks Pikachu out of the fight! Ash sends out Cyndaquil next, Brock noting that Magneton is also a Steel Type. Magneton uses Thunderbolt, but Cyndaquil dodges it easily and uses Flamethrower, which Magneton in turn dodges before repeating Thunderwave, which Cyndaquil hides from with a Smoke Screen. It smacks Magneton with a Swift Attack, and then tries Flamethrower only for Magneton to disguise its presence with Double Team. This time Thunderwave hits Cyndaquil, locking it in place for a Tri Attack.... and once again, one of Ash's Pokemon goes out! Ashıs final choice is Bulbasaur, with Jackson still having two Pokemon at his disposal. Magneton uses Thunderbolt, but Bulbasaur dodges and uses Razor Leaf. Once more Magneton tries Double Team, but Bulbasaur sends a Vine Whip hurtling through the various Magneton's and hits the real one, knocking it down. It tries a Thunder Wave, but Bulbasaur fires a Razor Leaf to negate it, and then bounced through the air using Vine Whip as a spring to avoid a Tri Attack. It fires a Leech Seed onto Magneton and sucks energy away from it, then wraps it up in Vine Whip and spins it wildly, knocking it out and giving the round to Bulbasaur. So now it's down to one Pokemon each, and Jackson calls on his MVP - Meganium. The two Pokemon smack at each other with Razor Leaf, with Meganium just edging out Bulbasaur and getting the upper hand. Next they try a Vine Whip and engage in a tug of war, but once again Meganium proves stronger and lifts Bulbasaur up and slams it into the ground, then leaps up for a Bodyslam which Bulbasaur just dodges. It tries a series of Bodyslams which Bulbasaur dodges, then hits Razor Leaf. Jackson orders a vine whip next and Ash tells Bulbasaur to use vine whip to jump and dodge, but Jackson was apparently hoping for this, and he orders a Razor Leaf that scores a direct hit on Bulbasaur. Meganium tries another Body Slam, but Bulbasaur uses its weight against it by grabbing it with Vine Whip and flipping it over onto the ground. Meganium hauls its bulk back up and smashes Bulbasaur with Razor Leaf, and the feisty Pokemon retaliates by choking Meganium's neck with Vine Whip and smacking it right in the face with a Razor Leaf of its own. Both Pokemon collapse then stagger back up to glare at each other.... and they start throwing Vine Whip punches at each other, not even trying to block the other's blows as they pound on each other like two heavyweight boxers. They slam each other in the face with Vine Whip and struggle against the other's attack, growling at each other before jumping clear and both firing up massive Solar Beams that collide together and explode, revealing.... both still standing! Bulbasaur and Meganium glare at each other, panting roughly, then both smile and collapse to the ground, simultaneously knocked out.... it's a draw! This concludes the H Division, but Ash's draw means that he is on 4 points, Jackson on 3 and Macey on 1, which means that Ash moves on to the semi-finals regardless of not beating Jackson. He shakes hands with the surprisingly competent trainer, and Macey waves happily from the stands where people who can't win ONE GODDAMN MATCH have to sit, crying out she'll be here to watch him go all the way. both Bulbasaur and Meganium are back up but still the worse for wear, but each seems to regard the other with respect, having both proved to the other that they're well 'ard. Meanwhile Team Rocket's new souvenir design is a massive hit! They're raking in the cash! Back in the Pokemon Centre, the brackets for the top 16 are up and the twerps are pleased to see Harrison has made it. Ash looks for himself and finds out who is next opponent is going to be, an opponent who saunters up beside him and chuckles that Ash's Silver Conference experience is going to be a short one. Yes Gentle Dodgers, Ash's next battle is against... Gary!
