247: The Ice Cave

But there hasn't been anything like that for awhile now, with a few episodes not airing in various different countries for different reasons. But today's episode is the first full on banned episode for awhile. Why was it banned? Well maybe it was because Jynx was a horrendously racist stereotype of a black woman akin to a Gollywog? That would explain why all future appearances of Jynx have seen the previous black Pokemon have purple skin. Or maybe it is due to using heaters in an ice cave, reminding us all of the horror of global warming?
Or maybe it was because Brock almost got it on with a goddamn Pokemon!
Whatever the reason, today finds the twerps walking along the road towards Blackthorn City. There is a fork in the road, and Brock checks out his guidebook and tells them that one of the paths will lead to a famous place called the Ice Cave. Ash excitedly rushes off eager to see it, and Misty and Brock chase after him, Misty yelling for him to wait up. From behind a bush, Team Rocket watches and is eager to follow.

Inside the cave the twerps find a wonderful cave coated everywhere with ice, which looks very pretty but can be painful, as Pikachu finds out when it falls over on its fat ass. They continue on and Misty loses her footing, crashing into Ash. Brock joins in on the fun by crashing into them and they all slide down a path and fall down a hole in front of two angry looking snowmen, one with a blue fez and the other with a red fez.
"HO HO HO!" laugh the snowmen.
"Prepare for trouble!
"And make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation."
"To unite all peoples within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extend our reach to the stars above."
"Jesse."
"James."
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light,"
"Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!"
"Meowth! Dat's right!"
"Team Rocket!" yell the twerps.
In a disturbing scene, Team Rocket whip out their hoses and pour water over the twerps. Rightfully horribly nauseated by this, Ash sends Pikachu up to thunderbolt them and then Misty has Politoed use Water Gun, which smashes them through the side of the mountain and sends them blasting off... already!
But now the twerps are soaking wet in a cave made from ice, and Brock shivers uncontrollably and sneezes, apparently more prone to a cold than Ash, Misty, Pikachu or even the supposedly childlike Togepi.
They continue on, Brock wrapped in a blanket and checking out his guide for the nearest Pokemon Centre, and they enter a giant underground cavern with a roof that shines with reflected light, much to their pleasure. They spot a Pokemon Centre of all things inside the cavern and enter looking for help.... and a Jynx walks in with a nursešs hat on, pushing a stretcher with a sleeping Swinub on it. Nurse Joy enters and sees Brock is sick, and soon the twerps are stripped naked (HEY HEY!) and Brock is in bed, a thermometer in his mouth (not elsewhere) staring with delirious delight at Joy, which causes his temperature to ruse and make him look sicker than he is. Misty is upset (and naked!) underneath her blanket (like Ash) because she knows it is Brock's horniness getting them in trouble.
A little later dressed and warm again, Ash and Misty talk to Joy as a Swinub comes in and is picked up and hugged and snuggled by her, and then the twerps notice a picture of the sporty, tanned and athletic Nurse Joy from the Orange Islands. The twerps and Joy dress in warm tops while Jynx feeds more Swinub and then some big Piloswine come in and Jynx lifts the fringes over their faces to apply eye drops.
Team Rocket watch all this from a ledge high in the cavern, and we're treated to another patented Crazy Meowth Giovanni Fantasy. We see Giovanni getting woken with a kiss from Jynx, then has his hear treated by a tiny blizzard from Swinub, then peers with joy at his herd of Piloswine and thanks Jesse, James and Meowth for doing such a great job.
But how to catch them? They sit around wondering and suddenly James has an idea.... snowcones! They set up a snowcone stand and the people will rush to them to get food and they'll make money and.... Jesse and Meowth slap him into the air angrily. Meowth hugs himself from the cold, and then James brings a fan and suggests they use that.... and gets slapped for his trouble again. They walk along shivering when they notice the air conditioning plant set into the cave, apparently generating heat for the centre and pumping cold air out of the side of the mountain.
Meanwhile, Brock awakens to find Nurse Joy tending to him, and as softcore porn sax plays and Joy whispers hornily to him, Brock moans with delight and takes her hand..... which suddenly becomes dark and freaky... it's Jynx! She leans forward and kisses him on the side of the mouth and he sits up with a gasp, begging for another kiss.... then comes to his senses and sees it is her. Before he can stop her though (although it goes unseen) she plants a big wet one on him and blushes with delight as he locks it away deep in the vault of repressed memories. She brings him some soup but it is too hot, and she shows him she has icy breath that can freeze water.
The twerps are helping Joy check on the other Swinub when her sensors register a spike in heat, and they rush outside with Jynx, calling for a Piloswine hitched to a sled. They jump in and leave Jynx behind to look after Brock, and then sled off to find out what is going on.
Arriving at the air conditioning plant, they see it is pumping out more heat than it is supposed to be, and she explains to the twerps the basics of how heat generation/air conditioning works. Exiting the cave into the forest, they see various Pokemon are freezing from the cold air being pumped out. They fall into a hole set by Team Rocket, who laugh at them and rush inside the cave which is now unprotected.
Bayleef uses Vinewhip to get them out, and then they use the Vine Whip to tear the air conditioning pipe out, lowering the temperature spike to normal. But Misty warns Ash now is no time to celebrate, they need to get back to the Pokemon Centre.
At the centre Brock awakes sweating and looks outside to see Team Rocket using multiple heaters to melt the ice and stagger the Ice Pokemon, and Team Rocket begin hauling them up as Jynx tries to use her icy breath to stop them. Meowth rushes up with a heater, the heat knocking her out. Brock storms out of the cave still sick and demands they stop, and sends out Geodude to try and stop them, much to Team Rocket's contempt. Jesse kicks a leg high and sticks her chest out as the camera freezes on her (oh like you wouldn't) and then Geodude gets its ass handed to it by Arbok, which then grabs Brock with its tail, lifts him high and slams him against the ground before Team Rocket shove their stolen Pokemon into the sled. But the twerps and Joy return on their Piloswine drawn sled and face off. Ash sends out Totodile which dances with delight and James sends out Victreebell which promptly tries to eat him. Misty sends in Corsola and they tackle Victreebell and Team Rocket aside, then Totodile uses Scary Face on Arbok. Jesse calls out Wobbuffet which uses Counter on Corsola and then Totodile's Water Gun, knocking both Corsola and Totodile out. The twerps are concerned and Wobbuffet is delighted, but as Team Rocket mock Ash, Jynx and the Piloswine blow a cold wind in and Pikachu leaps high, Thunderbolting the heaters which allows Jynx and the Piloswine to turn up the.... cold! Jynx uses her Kiss on Wobbuffet which freezes in delight, and the Ice Pokemon all use Blizzard to freeze Team Rocket's Pokemon. Pikachu then uses Thunderbolt on them all, and Team Rocket is sent blasting off out the other side of the mountain.... again!
A short time later, Brock is feeling better again and they line up outside of the Pokemon Centre to say their goodbyes to Joy, Jynx and the Pokemon. Brock thanks Jynx for nursing him back to health and Jynx happily nods, then they walk off waving goodbye.
Outside of the cave, they stare across a lake at what they are delighted to see is.... oh thank you yes! It's Blackthorn City.
Delighted yes, Gentle Dodgers, but not as delighted as we are!
