575: Cheers On Castaway Island!    580: Pikachu, Potchama Hyoryuki!    DeLOSTxys           Pikachu and Piplup wind up castaway on an island with an alien monstrosity    Should check the warranty on their unbreakable mechanical arms     If you see growing green rocks, pick them up and stack them together!

Today finds a picturesque scene, a beautiful island in the middle of a glittering sea bathed in sunlight.... and a very worried Pikachu and Piplup apparently stranded there! They look very worried and are calling out for help, perhaps scared of polar bears and Dharma Initiatives and John Lockes.... but it's a pretty island, they should be of good cheer! No tears, we need...

So how did this happen? Well the narrator tells us by going back in time a few hours, to the twerps on the boat travelling to Chocovine Town. Ash and Brock are enjoying the view of the pristine water passing by, and Dawn approaches to ask if they've seen Piplup, and they haven't... or Pikachu! Where are they? They're running around below decks, Piplup almost falling into some machinery but knocked clear by Pikachu. It flares up angrily over this "insult" but as Pikachu tries to calm it down, a tall, lean, suspiciously familiar red-haired woman in a glamorous dress scoops it up and hugs it so hard it almost pops. A blue haired man in a suit rushes up along with a strangely short furry man with whiskers in a suit who assure Pikachu that they know this isn't their "lady's" Piplup but please just play along. The lady hauls a struggling Piplup away and when Pikachu tries to chase, the blue haired man grabs it up and tells it they'd be happy to have it come along and play too.

Yes it seems Team Rocket's plan is to pretend that Jesse is a rich, slightly addled woman who has mistaken Piplup for her own missing version of the proud little penguin. James and Meowth will get Pikachu to "play along" for their poor brain-damaged Mistress, presumably then grabbing them when their guard is down and they can escape to safety.

The twerps are looking about above deck when they discover the slight flaw in Team Rocket's devious plan - having captured the Pokémon, they're returned to their standard costumes, have strapped Piplup and Pikachu in a small glass container to the back of their Magikarp Submarine (on legs) and are clambering inside in plain sight! The twerps demand their Pokémon back and Team Rocket mock them, jump in and then hop the Sub off of the boat!

Why didn't they put the glass container INSIDE of the submarine?

Ash calls out Buizel and leaps into the ocean after it, and Buizel zooms them after Team Rocket as they pedal away fantasizing about Giovanni's delight in getting two small, fairly common Pokémon. They spot Ash and Buizel following and try to pedal faster.... and get caught in an underwater current and hauled away faster than they can pedal... and James and Meowth don't even get to enjoy the view!

Well, maybe Meowth does.

Piplup and Pikachu's container is knocked clear and shatters, hauling the two Pokémon away as the Magikarp Submarine spirals off out of control and Ash forgets he can't breathe underwater and Buizel has to haul him to safety. Officer Jenny arrives on a police boat and tells Ash that Dawn and Brock put out an SOS for him, and takes him to pick the other twerps up and let the boat continue on to Chocovine while she helps them locate the probably now drowned, waterlogged corpses of Pikachu and Piplup from somewhere out in the vast depths of the ocean.

But while the impossible search begins, Piplup hauls Pikachu out of the water on the island we saw earlier, having rescued it from the cruel depths. Having exerted itself though, it's very hungry, so Pikachu heads further into the island and spots Probopass Pimps watching their Nosepass Ho's practise their ho-struts. It grabs some apples, spots a glint of light from the mountain (or very big hill) on the island and then brings the apples back to Piplup where the proud little penguin happily gobbles them down with an expression of pure joy.

So now we're back to the start of the episode and Pikachu and Piplup trying to figure out where Ash and Dawn are since they're Pokémon and don't understand beyond the most basic of spatial concepts. Pikachu has an idea though, it'll go up and use Thunderbolt and Piplup will use Bubble Beam and that'll make a signal that the twerps will see and they'll come and get them and the spiky-haired man who cries at night will give them some food!

So away they go, competing with each other as they blast into the sky where storm clouds are gathering, going way too far and eventually bringing down a massive blast of lightning onto both of them, knocking them silly.

It starts to rain as Pikachu revives Piplup, and they rush off into the bushes with the Island's Pokémon, while far out to sea Jenny is showing the twerps a chart of the area. The stormclouds are far distant, and Jenny is telling them that the current would have taken Pikachu and Piplup towards an area known as Diablo's Ocean!

Yes. The Devil's Sea!

But surely it isn't that bad, right?

Well, okay then!

There's a deserted island where boat's equipment stops working, apparently due to underwater rocks that give off a strange signal. They're planning a massive survey soon, but that isn't good enough for Ash, he wants to find out if they're on the island now! So he sends Staravia and Buizel into the MASSIVE FUCKING VIOLENT STORM before Brock tells Jenny (who he hasn't hit on yet) to take them after them in their boat that has navigation equipment that won't work if they get near the island!

On the island itself, Pikachu and Piplup follow other Pokémon carrying stones to a waterfall where a Corphish is stacking them around a purple egg. It begins to glow as Corphish greets them, and lifts into the air before dropping back down into the stone and sitting motionless.

This a weird ass island!

The storm has passed and now a Corphish is self-importantly telling Pikachu and Piplup the story of how it came to the island during a similarly violent storm one day and saw a strange Pokémon struck by lightning... a strange tendril armed Pokémon! AN ALIEN MONSTROSITY POKEMON!

OH SHIT!

As it fell from the sky it caused the rocks beneath it to glow green, and crashed into the mountainside. When Corphish and the other Pokémon rushed to the crash site, they found the purple egg floating by the waterfall before falling slowly to the ground.

Back in the present, Corphish tells about the rocks they saw glowing that night and how as they took parts of the rocks to build a kind of "nest" for the egg, it caused the egg to glow briefly. So in their limited understanding of cause and effect, they've been breaking up the rocks bit by bit and bringing it to the egg in the hopes of fully waking it up again.

Piplup and Pikachu join them (as does some pretty cool music) as they swim under the water and begin breaking up rocks, Pikachu trying to join in till Piplup reminds it that underwater electric attacks probably aren't the best idea. Instead, it climbs out of the water, takes a deep breath, dives back in and tries Iron Tail instead.

While this is happening, Staravia flies overhead and spots Pikachu on top of the rock as it is brought back to the island. Buizel surfaces just behind them, and then they head back to find the twerps and Jenny.

At the waterfall, they've surrounded the egg with the pieces of rock (and put the big one next to it) and it begins glowing. Tendrils emerge from the egg and press against Piplup and Pikachu's head.... and then a giant Magikarp comes out of the water!

It's Team Rocket!

They fire a mechanical hand to grab Pikachu, Piplup and whatever other Pokémon they want, and Corphish smashes the hand, so Meowth uses the OTHER mechanical arm they apparently have, the one that is unbreakable!

They just forgot it before, that's all!

But as they slap Corphish aside and grab Pikachu and Piplup, Staravia swoops down and breaks the (unbreakable) arm, and then Buizel knocks the hand open and allows Pikachu and Piplup to fall free. Jenny's boat comes ashore and the twerps reunite with their Pokémon as Officer Jenny tries to place Team Rocket under arrest and Jesse mercilessly mocks her.

"All right Team Rocket," Jesse echoes Jenny,"You're under arrest for attempting to steal Pikachu and Piplup blahblahblah, yada yada yada! We don't subscribe to your rules!
"What do you take us for, a bunch of fools?" demands James, poking out his tongue,"When it comes to rhymes, we've got the tools!"
"On the wind!"
"Past the stars!"
"The twoip drools!" yells Meowth.
"We're bringing aquatic chaos at a breakneck pace!"
"We're dashing all hope and putting fear in its place."
"A rose by any other name is just as sweet."
"When everything's worse, our work is complete."
"Jesse!"
"And it's James!"
"Meowth, now dat's a name!"
"Putting the do-gooders in their place."
"We're Team Rocket!"
"In your face!" they finish together. Having now performed their motto with a mixture of flying, blowing kisses and touching themselves (oh like you wouldn't if you didn't look like that), they're prepared to fight the twerps who have beaten them every single time they've ever fought before for the last 10 plus years. But before that can happen..... OH SHIT!

Deoxys!

They all REALLY FUCKED NOW!

Except Team Rocket stupidly decide now they can catch an even BETTER Pokémon, and the terrifying alien creature hauls the stones up into the air and begins sucking the energy from them, lifting the Magikarp Submarine out of the water and dragging Jenny’s boat forward. Brock figures out that the stones are actually meteors and orders Jenny to back out fast due to the obvious magnetic effects. Team Rocket cower in horror, James and Meowth appearing to be making out in front of Jesse's crotch while a horrified Wobbuffet looks on. Then Jesse decides to fight the alien entity of unimaginable powers with her giant dragonfly! Team Rocket end up, surprise surprise, blasting off again!

The meteors shatter and fall towards the twerps, only to be saved by Deoxys which uses itself as a human (well, Pokémon.... well, alien) shield to protect them. An Aurora lights up the sky and Corphish happily waves goodbye before Deoxys mutters something unintelligible and alien and then launches into the sky, leaving the twerps and the island's Pokémon behind.

So as the sun sets, Jenny takes the twerps across the ocean in her boat as they discuss for the slower viewers the exact plot of the episode. The obviously injured Deoxys was hit by lightning and crashed on the island, and drew power from the meteors as it recuperated. It was assisted unknowingly by the island Pokémon gathering pieces together to help the "egg" that was actually Deoxys' crystal. Ash adds in that there are still more strange and amazing Pokémon out there they don't know about, and then Pikachu and Piplup get their attention. They've finally arrived, Gentle Dodgers, it's Chocovine Town.
