Pachirisu is emulating Pikachu's storing of electricity before releasing it in a dramatic electric display, part of their practise only 24 hours out from the Floaroma Pokémon Contest. Dawn congratulates Pachirisu and thanks Pikachu, and then notices Pachirisu staring at her with the huge eyes and desperate love of a junkie, as it begs for another fix of the poffins that Dawn has gotten it addicted to. She gives it a hit and throws Piplup one too, and Brock congratulates her use of addicting products to get her Pokémon to give her that little bit extra.
But one hit is never enough and they beg her for more, and she refuses, so they go for the next best thing and rush over to stare up her skirt. She tells them no angrily, and Pikachu darts away as it senses Pachirisu is about to try and mug Dawn for some more of that sweet Poffin action. The twerps and Piplup are blasted, and then Pikachu blasts Pachirisu back to knock some sense into the junkie, leaving everybody lying smashed and Dawn's hair a mess... which of course is EXACTLY when an old boyfriend (a friend who is a boy!) from her youth shows up to see her in the most embarrassing possible situation. He smugly calls her Dee-Dee, and she leaps back up in alarm, giving Ash a pretty clear view of something he just doesn't get.
The boy is Kenny, a short boy with odd helmet hair who almost mockingly tells Dawn she's all grown up. He calls her Dee-Dee about a billion times in a row and then mistakes Pikachu for her Pokémon. She snaps at him to stop calling her Dee-Dee, points out Ash and says that Pikachu belongs to him, and then after Ash and Brock introduce themselves she tells the alarmed boy that she's been "with" Ash and Brock for a long time now.
And speaking of girls that people want to have sex with.... it's Jesse! She's back in full-on Jessebella mode, posing before floating rose-petals being fanned her way by a compliant James and Meowth. They ask her what Pokémon she plans to use in the contest, and she replies that the answer is only an arm's length away, pointing to all the other Coordinators and their Pokémon. Calling out Seviper and Dustox, she instructs them that James and Meowth are going to "suggest" Pokémon for her to use, and their job is to then "bring" them to her. She laughs she has no time to do the legwork, she's booked herself in for a makeover!
In the Pokémon Centre, Dawn is explaining that she and Kenny have been playing together since Nursery School, but he left on his Pokémon Journey before her. He shows off the Pokémon he chose first, a Piplup that has since evolved into Prinplup. It's a very regal, rotund looking penguin that towers over Piplup and glares down imperiously at it as it tries to make friends.... then smacks the smaller penguin over!
Dawn is shocked, and Kenny apologises, saying that Prinplup doesn't like anything getting into its face. Piplup leaps back up and tries to make itself look big, puffing out its chest and lifting itself up onto its tiptoes as Prinplup glares back down at it.
Kenny tells Dawn he saw her at the Jubilife City Contest and wonders if she chose Piplup so she could copy him. She snaps back that she'd never copy him and insists her and Piplup were made for each other. She then asks Kenny if he was at Jubilife to watch and he gets upset, quite understandably so when he reveals that he actually took part in it! She gasps and clasps her hands together apologetically, claiming she was too excited to really notice anything else. Kenny then brags that he's all ready made it to the Final of one Contest, the one before Jubilife in fact, but was defeated by an amazing (and androgynous!) Coordinator called Zoe... the same one who beat Dawn!
They sit down to lunch and chat about Zoe, then Dawn explains that Ash is a Trainer and Brock is a breeder (snicker) and then talks all about Ash.... making him out to be a bit of a moron as she cheerfully reveals how long it took him to win his first Gym Battle. But Kenny sees his chance, giggling that he has some stories to tell about Dawn, frustrating her as she realises that every stupid thing she's ever done could be about to told to the rest of the twerps. Kenny kicks off with a big one, talking about a haircut Dawn got once that she hated so much she tried to cut herself a new style.... and ended up looking like a Chimchar!
She screams at the laughing humans and Pokémon to grow up, and shouts at Kenny that was way back in Nursery School. This only adds fuel to the fire though, as he tells the story of a play that they were involved in where they dressed as Pokémon and Dawn sneezed and knocked down the set... or the time she showed up at school in her pyjamas and odd shoes! Ash and Brock are enjoying the tales a bit too much, correctly guessing that in the last case she insisted,"No need to worry!"
Dawn has had enough of being mocked, roaring angrily that she's changed since then, and wants a battle to prove it. But Kenny isn't interested in fighting Dawn, he wants a shot at Ash's Pikachu! The reason is that he wants to make his Prinplup stronger, and fighting Piplup isn't going to do that, much to Dawn's chagrin.
They head off to a local training battleground and Pikachu kicks things off with Thunderbolt, hitting Prinplup's Metal Claw which breaks off the attack. Kenny sends in Prinplup with Drill Peck, leaping high into the air and dropping towards Pikachu... but Pikachu leaps up, spins past Prinplup like Ash learned in his first battle, and smacks Prinplup with Iron Tail. It shoots towards the ground but blasts the ground with bubbles from Bubble Beam to cushion its fall, then poses dramatically, in perfect Contest Fashion.
As the battle continues between the "Unidentified Twerp" and the "Well Known Twerp" - James, Meowth, Wobbuffet, Dustox, Mime Jr. and Seviper watch on. Meowth declares they need to capture Prinplup for Jesse, so Seviper uses Haze to confuse everyone, covering the battleground in smoke. Ash calls out Staravia and uses Gust to clear the haze, and Team Rocket are sprung trying to shove Prinplup into their sack. Rushing towards Team Rocket, Brock (of course it is Brock) notices that Jesse isn't there, and asks where she is.... why getting her nails done of course, James replies!
Kenny tells Prinplup to get out of Seviper's Wrap but Dustox has used Poison Sting to sap its strength. Kenny rushes to try and save his Pokémon, and James calls out Cacnea and Carnivine to.... hug and bite him!?!
Breaking them off of him, he orders them to use Bullet Seed and Pin Missile, falling backwards as they break clear and moaning that he's going to take a nap. The two Pokémon do as they're told. Ash knocks Kenny clear of the attack, Dawn and Brock explaining who Team Rocket are. Pikachu prepares to blast everyone with Thunderbolt, but Ash tells it to stop as Prinplup can't use Metal Claw to protect itself anymore. Team Rocket begin backing off slowly, grinning with delight, and then note Pikachu and decide to go for broke... it's time to send the twerps blasting off for a change! Dustox, Carnivine and Cacnea all blast at the twerps, but then Piplup leaps up and glows bright before blasting a huge twisting funnel of water above it.... it's Whirlpool!
It slams the whirlpool at Team Rocket, surrounding them and twisting them about (plus, you know... drowning them!) as at the centre of it all Prinplup absorbs the energy of the attack and leaps out good as new, nodding at Piplup and giving it credit for its help. A dizzy and soaked Team Rocket decide that instead of going for broke they'll just try to get while the getting is good, and begin sneaking away... only for Dawn to call them on it.
Her and Kenny growl they're not getting away that easy, and Prinplup and Piplup blast them away with Bubblebeam. James moans that at least Jesse will have nice nails, which causes Meowth to snap that he wishes he could say the same about James.
Dawn congratulates Piplup on its great work, help and learning of a new move, Kenny thanks it too, Ash has as well... and little Piplup is so proud that it puffs its chest out too far, tumbles backwards and bumps its head.
Meanwhile, the rest of Team Rocket have headed to the Beauty Parlour where Jesse is getting her nails done by a Smeargle. They beg her for forgiveness and she roars angrily at them; face swelling in a para-Baleen whale-like fashion. Almost immediately the incomprehensible and unknowable mind of their Bitch-Goddess-Queen changes, as she casually grunts that she'll just have to wing it with Seviper and Dustox... once her nails dry, she's going to train them to be wild, beautiful and gorgeous, just like her!
Later that night, Prinplup is reunited with Kenny at the Pokémon Centre after getting healed up, and then Kenny tells Dawn that she better accept that he is going to win the ribbon, not her. She snaps she'll show him, and Ash and Brock grin at the idea of another big fight between rivals.
The next day the Contest begins, with Ash and Brock sitting in seats with Pikachu dressed up in robes and Buneary in a cheerleading outfit. James, Meowth and Wobbuffet sit up in the stands, James once against BLATANTLY wearing his Team Rocket costume, all of them knowing that if Jesse doesn't win this, they'll be the ones to suffer.
Backstage, Dawn approaches Kenny who is wearing a matador outfit, and when he sees the Spanish Type dress she's wearing he's actually left speechless. Dawn loves it, teasing him and asking the blushing boy if he thinks she is pretty.... while off to the side Jesse stares at herself in the mirror, twiddling her fingers and leaving us all in no doubt that she certainly thinks that SHE looks pretty.
On stage, Marion introduces the Judges and then calls in the first Coordinator... Dawn! The contest starts off great when Pachirisu emerges with a big sparkly burst before... landing on its face, rolling into the Judges' screen, staring up in horror at the Judges. Something about Mr. Sukizo's beaming face speaks to some deep terror that only squirrels can ever know, and it begins running around in circles in terror!
It seems like Dawn is screwed, but as she watches Pachirisu charging about in circles, she smiles and declares she has an idea! But what is it? Flashing her panties? We won't know till next episode, because this one is....
