541: Pruning a Passel of Pals!   546: Gekito! Sorezore no Batoru!    One Lame Ass Pyjama Jammy Jam           The twerps continue to battle in The Wallace Cup    Determined to be the centre of attention SOMEHOW!     It’s all friendly competition till somebody has to lose

Last episode saw the twerps make their way through the opening stage of the Wallace Cup, with Jesse knocked out in the first round. So now Zoey, May, Dawn and Ash find themselves all through to the next round... but there can be only one winner, and the odds are that they will have to fight each other at some point. Yes, in this round, it's all about thinning the numbers down, this stage will be....

During the night, May, Zoey and Dawn are having a pyjama party, which involves far less hairbrushing, pillow fights and "practise" kissing than one would expect. May has just learned that Dawn's mother was a former Grand Festival Winner, and is explaining that when she started her own Pokémon Journey she had a little trouble figuring out exactly what she wanted to do (nothing with Pokémon, to start with!). Just then they hear a crashing noise and run across the hall to Ash and Brock's room, where they find him in boxer shorts and t-shirt crashed out on his back on the floor, having apparently fallen off of the bed.

Ash explains he was dreaming about a battle, then gets dressed and heads outside, telling Dawn he's not able to sleep so he's going to take a walk. Him and Pikachu head out to enjoy the night breeze on the harbour, looking out across the lake and telling Pikachu that the contest seems to be doing Buizel a world of good. Suddenly, the water on the lake ripples and .... something .... emerges, a translucent figure that waves through the air and then disappears.

Shocked, Ash rushes back to his room and tries to hurriedly explain what he saw to Brock, but he's not making any sense, it was a.... thing! With a light! And the wind.... with a thing! The girls step in and we get more of an ass shot that you'd expect to see from three 10 year old girls, and Piplup blasts Ash with Bubble Beam right in the face to "wake him up". Finally they all settle down and Ash explains to the best of his ability what he saw, and it sparks a memory for Dawn of the Pokémon that SHE saw when rescuing Piplup all those episodes ago (roughly 3 weeks in Pokémon time), and May mentions that she heard of a sightings of a similar Pokémon when she was at Snowpoint City. Zoey speaks up to point out she comes from Snowpoint herself and heard the same stories growing up, though she never saw the legendary Pokémon for herself. Brock guesses that if all three lakes have had sightings of the same (or similar) Pokémon, then it might have something to do with Sinnoh's Space Time Legend, and Dawn promises to call up Professor Rowan and ask him about it the next morning.

Speaking of which, the next morning the crowds are packed into the Stadium once more, with the Contest Battle Stage ready to begin. Wallace gives a few encouraging words to the surviving Coordinators, and May notices that Dawn seems far more relaxed now. The computer randomly pairs up the Coordinators to battle, and by a stroke of chance, none of the twerps have to battle each other.... yet!

Dawn is up first against Little Businessman, five minutes on the clock on a water stage. The battle starts off with Buneary against Wailmer, and when Wailmer tries to overpower Buneary with a blast of water from its spout, but Dawn has Buneary use the water to do Somersaults, delighting Wallace and costing Little Businessman points as he moans,"That's not fair!" and Buneary adds insult to injury by using Bounce to smack Wailmer in the face, costing Little Businessman even more points.

Little Businessman's attempts to compensate for his undeveloped genitals sees him try to overpower Buneary again with a massive blast of Surf, but Buneary spins up through it and ends up making the powerful move make HER look good again, and Little Businessman loses even more points, to the delight of the twerps watching backstage (and Brock, who the officials obviously took pity on by allowing backstage instead of sitting alone in the stands).

With a minute to go, Dawn goes on the offensive with Dizzy Punch, and Wailmer finally goes for some flair with Hidden Power, but Buneary dodges the move and causes it to track back and hit Wailmer instead. Rather than resting on her laurels, Dawn has Buneary blast Icebeam at Wailmer. Little Businessman makes one more pathetic effort to power his way to victory with a Body Slam, but the massive Pokémon is frozen solid and collapses into the water as time runs out and the victory goes (easily) to Dawn!

The Judges are very impressed, as is Wallace who calls it a perfect blend of power and delicacy and says he has high hopes for the next battle.

"Woah! Dawn won it like I told her too!" shouts Ash backstage, because he's a moron and still thinks he can change reality through use of words. Brock notes that Dawn was enjoying herself out there and Zoey agrees, saying the crowd couldn't help but be infected by her enthusiasm.

Brock wouldn't mind getting infected by her, either.

And with that, it's montage time! Ash, Zoey and May head out to put a beating on their opponents, all while a less than enthusiastic Jesse watches from high up in the stand, not pleased with Wobbuffet's patiently pleased exhortations.

James and Meowth carefully approach their Bitch Goddess Queen with superstitious fear, James meekly trying to remind her that you can't win them all, and Meowth asks if they can do anything for her, and she demands that they wave a magic wand and get her back down to the main stage and the action.... and they tell her they can!

Yes, they've come up with a (surprisingly) good idea, if she can't Coordinate down there, she can report on the Coordinators! They slip into their old camera-man gear and she realises she can bring "Jessedia" out of retirement and do what any good actress would do in her situation, fake the news!

As long as she's wearing that skirt, who cares if she's faking it! Am I right fellas, huh? HUH? HUH!?! .....ehhhhhhh.....

Meanwhile, time has just run out on the second battle of the second stage, and Dawn finds herself triumphant over Four Year Old Girl and her Pelipper. Dawn is now in the semi-finals and thanks Pachirisu, while the others out back note that things are going well for her. Ash's turn is up now, and he heads out to do battle with Hurricane Hair, who is now known as Kyle.

The battle commences with Buizel bursting out to an electric start against Kyle's Lanturn, which dives down into the water, and Zoey warns backstage that it's not just a water type, but an electric type. Lanturn uses Charge, diving down into the water and lighting up with its electric powers, costing Ash points as Kyle's Lanturn impresses. Ash isn't concerned though (he's not smart enough) and has Buizel use Sonic Boom to knock Lanturn out of the water.... but Kyle isn't concerned, he was counting on it, blasting Buizel with a mid-air Thunderbolt! Brock reports that Charge increased the power of the Thunderbolt, while out on the stage, Kyle "The Hurricane" Hair rather snootishly mocks Ash for using Buizel again instead of switching to a different Pokémon. He tells Ash that now he can accurately predict what he will do, and has Lanturn blast an Ice Beam at Buizel. Ash is infuriated with Kyle's arrogance and has Buizel combat Ice Beam with... Aquajet!?! Everyone is shocked at such a stupid move, but as Buizel blasts through the air Ash orders it to spin, and its momentum carries it through the Icebeam even as the Aquajet blast is frozen around it, turning Buizel into... a MOTHERFUCKING ICE MISSILE!

Everyone - including Wallace! - is shocked, both in and out of the stadium as people at the local Pokémon Centre too cheap to buy tickets watch on the screen. Paul casts a derisive look at Ash's battle, "humphs" to himself and walks away without looking back. Back at the stadium, a frantic Kyle orders Lanturn to Thunderbolt, but Buizel's "Ice Aquajet" is a guided missile and allows it to spin out of the way, crash into the water and smash tip first into Lanturn's belly, smashing it out of the water.

Kyle loses massive points and Dawn realises that Ash is using a Fusion Move, and Zoey proclaims that Ash is really something, but Brock points out that the fusion move was Dawn's idea. Everyone is impressed, but Dawn insists that it took Ash, crazy dumb Ash, to actually get it to work.

The battle isn't over yet though, Kyle's former arrogance has been stripped and now he's just desperate, ordering a Hydropump that knocks Buizel out of the water. But it inflates it's collar (THE BUIZELSTER CALLS IT THE EGO STROKE, BROTHER!) to slow it's flight, then counters with Water Pulse as Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, causing the pulse to explode and rain down water in a pretty display that gives the last second win to.... Kyle!

The Buizelster doesn't think that shit will draw at Madison Square Garden, brother.

The Judges were impressed by the battle, Wallace so much that he looks like he was about to tweak his own nipples. The twerps are depressed backstage, Ash did a great job but it wasn't quite enough, experience won out in the end.

Meanwhile, Ash has found himself cornered by "Jessedia" who wants to interview him, said interview consisting of talking a lot and ignoring Ash's subdued attempts to talk (THE BUIZELSTER SHOULD CUT THE PROMOS, DUDE!) as she mugs to the camera and blows kisses.

Zoey and May continue on, defeating their opponents, Jessedia reporting on the action and actually mentioning May by name.... she must have been using cue cards! The day's battles have ended, and the final four will meet up tomorrow, with Dawn facing Kyle "The Hurricane" Hair and May to go up against.... Zoey!

With the right to creepily stalk Dawn on the line!

Jesse says her goodbyes and asks James and Meowth if she's gorgeous or what, and they "tackily flatter" her which delights her. Marion steps up and tells her she's doing a great job, and Jesse happily replies that "one of them has to be!". Marion mentions she heard that Jessedia was a reporter at the Hoenn Grand Festival and she really appreciates them helping out, and Jesse continues to talk up how great she is (and conversely, how shithouse Marion is!) before shoving down Wobbuffet as it tries to take valuable camera time away from her.

And the cameras aren't even rolling anymore!

That night, the twerps all sit around commiserating with Ash, who thought he had the battle won with Ice Aquajet, still stuck in thinking in Battle Mode instead of Contest Mode. As Brock points out to Ash that he now has three friends to root for (but not root) but only one possible winner, realisation hits Dawn, tomorrow if she makes it through to the final she will have to face either May... or Zoey!

They all laugh that they mean to be the winner, friends or not, and it's all very friendly and jocular, because each of them obviously still believes that THEY will win and it will be the others that have to be noble... and two of them are going to be disappointed!

The next day, Marion kicks things off, asking Wallace (about to tweak his nipples again) for a few words before the opening battle between Dawn and Kyle. Backstage, Dawn tells Piplup that it is finally its turn, and it's time to show everyone what they've got. She heads out, and the Semi-Final is on! Piplup vs.... Crawdaunt!

Oh Jesus fuck it's going to eat Piplup!

And with that, the battle is on, Piplup blasting Bubblebeam and Crawdaunt blasting out Sludge Bomb, the two moves crashing together as Team Rocket watch from the rafters, the Judges watch from the sidelines, and the twerps watch backstage. Whoever wins this, goes to the final! Who will it be? Find out..... next episode!
