MORAL LEARNT
680: Scare at the Litwick Mansion!    685: Hitomoshi Yashiki no Kowa~i Ohanashi!    Masque of the Amityville Shining                 The twerps and Team Rocket are targeted by vampire Pokémon    Heroin chic    Sometimes a Pocket Monster is literally a monster

Today finds the twerps overheated and stumbling forward through the forest path, desperate for water, even a storm to cool them down. Iris suddenly sniffs the air and tells them she can smell a southerly wind - a storm IS coming, and heavy rain. Ash is amused, looking up at the clear blue sky and lack of clouds. He tells Iris that if it rains he'll walk on his hands, but Iris is adamant and then... BAM! Lightning, thunder, rain and storm outta nowhere! Rather than being smug about it, Iris is as alarmed as the others over the sudden heaviness of the rain and they decide to try and find cover somewhere. Further ahead on the edge of a cliff looking out over the forest they spot a big spooky mansion backlit by forked lightning, and decide that is a cool place to go hang out! They rush up to it in surprisingly quick time (perhaps because Ash is not walking on his hands) and bang rudely on the door trying to get attention. There is no answer so Ash hammers harder, and the doors finally open... but there is nobody on the other side! Confused, the twerps look around, but inside is at least dry so in they go, getting out of the rain.... but leaving themselves open to a....

Inside the surprisingly huge mansion, they move through the hall on a rich red carpet, calling out for the owner. They're apologetic about just coming inside, but they had to get out of the stormy weather.... but there is no reply. As they continue to wander about, they're being observed through surveillance cameras. By the owner of the house? Nope, by Team Rocket! Tucked away inside themselves, Team Rocket are not at all pleased to see the twerps, uninterested in dealing with them today. They'd set up in the mansion as a secret headquarters, but they haven't been able to get communications with HQ up and now the twerps are sure to put a crimp in their style as per usual. Jesse has an idea though, they'll grab Pikachu, get rid of the twerps and then work on their communications (that's not an idea, Jesse, that's a hope!), and it seems for once they actually have the means to do this. Off to the side, several little candle-looking Pokémon are happily playing about near James' Yamask. He calls the GHOST OF A DEAD HUMAN BEING FLOATING AROUND CARRYING IT'S LITERAL DEATH MASK over to him and asks it to ask the Litwick to capture Pikachu and scare away the twerps, and with a salute the HUMAN SOUL responds to its master's bidding.

The twerps are confused as hell as to how the place can be deserted when somebody let them in, but Cilan says they have to stick around till the rain stops. They settle down in the hall and Ash admits that he was wrong about the storm, and declares he is going to keep his promise. He and Pikachu get up and do a handstand, which apparently delights Cilan but leaves Iris less than impressed, muttering that he doesn't have to do that.

The windows break open and Ash crashes down, and when Cilan tries to latch the windows shit they break back open immediately. A small drawer zips at Ash who darts aside at the last second, and Iris warns that there is something watching them. Cilan insists that it is just the wind, but she rightly points out that the wind wouldn't have been able to move such a heavy object so quickly and so far. Cilan and Ash suddenly blanch in fright, confusing Iris who finally turns to look behind her.... and up on the stairs sees what has frightened the boys so badly - it's a collection of household objects formed into the shape of a man! A man who wants to kill them!

The bust rushes them, swinging an umbrella like a sword as the twerps panic and run, chased by the monstrosity. They head for the doors to escape, but a heavy piece of furniture is slammed down in front of it. The statue comes at them and they dive aside as it smashes apart on the door, and the bust crashes down beside Cilan, utterly terrifying him. Squealing like a girl he zooms away leaving the two younger kids to fend for themselves, and they don't waste any time in zooming after him themselves. Observed by Team Rocket, Jesse and James are confused as to why the Litwick prevented the twerps from leaving (because Pikachu was still on Ash's shoulder?), and Meowth sighs and says he'll go re-deliver the orders to Yamask.

In the dining room, the twerps have settled down at the fully set table (creepy) to catch their breath. Ash, of course, is sitting at the head of the table. Cilan notes the plates and utensils laid out and how strange this is, and Iris says this means SOMEONE must be there. Just then the dinner bell lifts and rings, and suddenly the twerps find themselves lifted up on their chairs and swung around the room screaming, then the plates and utensils target them only for their chairs to be swung aside at the last second and tip them out into the next room. Empty clothes bow to the terrified twerps and begin dancing them around the room as they just scream and scream and scream, while Pikachu is thrown clear and decides to react the only way it knows how - with a shitload of electricity! The clothes (and the twerps!) crash to the ground, and from underneath one set emerge the four Litwick. Ash spots them and they try to run, but one falls over, and turns to see Ash looming over it like a ghost himself, roaring like a monster!

Shortly after, Cilan identifies it as a Litwick and Ash tries to check it out with his Pokédex, learning that Litwick appear to help guide people but in fAHHHHhkkkkkkk........ and the Pokédex switches off! Ash is surprised, gasping that this is weird... then just mumbling,"Whatever..." and thinking no more of it!

Happily Cilan is doing his thinking for him, commenting that the Litwick must know Psychic and that they are the one behind the ghostly goings-on. Iris doesn't seem all that pleased with his deducing though, while Ash wants to know if Litwick's trainer owns the mansion. It's reply doesn't seem to answer one way or the other and the twerps insist that they don't mean any harm or to steal anything, they just wanted to get out of the rain. They head on down one of the corridors trying to figure out what it is saying and wondering if it can understand them at all. Something they CAN understand is Meowth's voice though, as shortly after alarmingly bumping into Yamask, they hear Meowth and see him come around the corner explaining to the other three Litwick that he wants them to capture Pikachu.

Iris recognises him immediately despite their infrequent meetings, and Meowth takes off immediately. The twerps set off to find him, while Meowth returns to report to Jesse and James that he's been spotted. He can't seem to work himself up to really care though, and James notices that he looks exhausted... and Meowth says the same about James. Jesse says they're both looking drained, and they say she is the same - all three of them do look frighteningly cadaverous, but they figure it must be down to all their hard work, and nothing to do with the energised Litwick off to the side. They try to summon up their energy to celebrate the perfection of this location as a secret base, but that tires them out even more and they collapse to the ground. The three Litwick approach and James notices that the flames on their heads are larger than before, but they still don't make the connection between their condition and the Litwick. They ask Yamask to instruct the Litwick to capture Pikachu again and the Litwick eagerly agree, then turn and make evil, satisfied little smiles.

Holy shit they're eating their souls!

The storm increases, while the twerps scream for Team Rocket to come out right now. Drawers glow bright with Psychic and rush at the twerps, who spot one of the other Litwick and try to explain they don't want to fight. They dart aside as a lighting fixture falls to the ground and try to cheese it out of there, Axew shadowed by a sneering Litwick. The twerps recover and discover that the little Litwick they had with them is gone, and Iris notices that Axew is missing. Alarmed, they set off in search of it, while up in their hidden location Team Rocket notice that Yamask is missing too. Down with the twerps, Pikachu gets rushed by one of the Litwick and disappears as well, and things are just getting all kinds of creepy now!

Team Rocket have finally gotten their communications network up and running and made contact with Dr Zager, reporting the discovery of the perfect base location. Zager must be wondering what is up since Jesse and James are currently looking like heroin addicts fast approaching rock-bottom, and asks for slightly more detail. They give a rundown of the mansion and mention the Litwick, and he warns them to be careful - research has shown that Litwick feed off of the life energy of people AND Pokémon! They literally are little candle vampires! Zager tells them he was meaning to do some research on the subject himself... but then the communication cuts off, and Jesse checks herself out with the compact and is horrified at her sunken cheeks and eye-sockets. She moans that she's having trouble breathing (consider the size of her lungs!) but James quiets her, asking where Meowth is. Meowth went to find Yamask.... oh shiiiiiiit.

Meowth stumbles down a hall and spots Litwick, demanding to know why it isn't doing his bidding... and gets lifted up by Psychic and screams,"Oh no! Oh nooooo!" as the camera cuts to the outside of the mansion.

REALLY fucking creepy

Iris is getting worried about not being able to find Axew, and Cilan gets his brain running and reminds Ash of his Pokédex shutting down. Ash agrees it had never happened before and Cilan asks him to open it again. Apparently running fine now, it explains that Litwick appear to be guiding people through dark areas with the flame on their heads.... but in reality they are leading them into "the ghost world".

Or in other words.... they kill people and Pokémon. Holy shit.

The twerps stand gaping, realising that the Litwick cut off the Pokédex from rumbling their game.... and that Axew and Pikachu are in HUGE trouble! They set off to find them, while elsewhere Jesse and James are struggling through corridors trying to find Meowth. Struggling more and more to breath, Jesse demands her life energy back... and the doors to a Shining style lift open and out emerges not blood but a huge black cloud that rushes straight for them!

The twerps turn a corner and spot two Litwick giggling amongst themselves and chase after them, entering a dark and empty room with Pikachu, Axew and Meowth passed out inside. They rush to the Pokémon and pick them up (well, not Meowth) but then the door slams shut... before the black smoke smashes a hole through it and Jesse pushes her head through the door, glaring manically at the twerps like Jack fucking Nicholson coming to "correct" his wife and son.

"THEEEEERRREEE YOUUUU AREEEE!" rasps Jesse, as Meowth creepily raises to his feet,"You must have questions, we're impressive indeed."
"The answers will come, as we feel the need," adds James.
"Bringing the blinding white light of evil into the future!" gasps Jesse, barely able to point at them.
"Thrusting the hammer of justice onto the blackness of the universe!" moans James, looking half out of his mind as he sniffs at his rose.
"And carving our names in da rock of eternity!"
"Ahhhh..... the fiery destroyer, Jesse...." gasps Jesse.
"Uhhh.... and with... thunderous emotion.... I am James," wheezes James.
"Ughhhhh.... wisest of the wise, I'm Meowth!" heaves Meowth.
"And now," they moan together as Yamask floats in behind them,"... gather under the name of Team Rocket...."

Jesse warns Meowth that they have to get out of there, and he moans back that this is their best chance to catch Pikachu. Strangely enough they were NOT possessed, just pushed to the point of utter exhaustion, but having found Meowth, Jesse and James want to get the fuck out of there before the Litwick find them. It's too late though, flames light up the darkness of the room and the Litwick appear, along with a Lampent. Ash checks it out with his Pokédex and learns that it too steals life energy and "leads" people to the "ghost world". The Pokémon blast Inferno at Team Rocket and the twerps, who duck aside, and the blasts hit the wall and rip open A HOLE INTO HELL! This isn't Litwick Mansion, it's the goddamn Amityville Horror! It's the Overlook Hotel! It's Prospero's Abbey! It's death and everybody is about to die!

Lampent and the Litwick blast the Pokémon and knock them towards the whole, and as they desperately cling on to life, another blast widens the hole and puts Meowth at serious risk of falling in. But the hole isn't done widening, all four walls fall into nothingness, and now the only thing between the twerps, Team Rocket, the Pokémon and death is the floor beneath their feet!

The only way out for them now is to defeat the Litwick and the Lampent, there is no other escape. Ash calls out Oshawott, Cilan calls out Dwebble, Jesse calls out Woobat and James sends in Yamask, but all of them fail to make any impact on the snickering Litwick which use Psychic to grab up Yamask and Woobat and bask them into Jesse and James knock them closer towards death. The Litwick flames burst up even higher and Team Rocket warn that this is death coming, they're going to be hollowed out and left empty shells. Jesse's fingers slip on the floor and with a small gasp she whispers,"This is it," and falls backwards into.....

Ash just saved Jesse's life!

The Litwick blast Cilan and he stumbles backwards... and is rescued by James! The four stand together and agree to a temporary truce in the face of death

Twerps and Team Rocket are united!

Yamask blasts at the Litwick and Lampent with Shadowball, and as they use Protect, Dwebbble scatters the Litwick with X-Scissor. Lampent uses Inferno but Oshawott blocks it with Water Gun and Lampent is left open to Air Slash from Woobat, and Ash takes the moment to strike and uses Electro-Ball and.... Lampent and the Litwick is knocked into hell and the walls close up behind them!

Team Rocket gasp, they're back to normal! They can finally leave the house of horrors! The twerps agree and they rush outside, where it is not daylight and the storm has passed, and turn to look back at... oh shit! Ohhhhhhh shiiiiiit!

It WAS the Overlook Hotel!

Cilan figures out the Litwick made the mansion appear nicer than it really was, and Iris sighs that she knew something was wrong when they first stepped foot in there. For some reason Ash and Cilan laugh at this statement, and then Team Rocket get their attention, appearing atop the ruined mansion wearing jetpacks. They warn them that the next time they meet they WILL take Pikachu for their own, but they honour the truce by not attacking, taking off and escaping with their lives.

The twerps don't seem overly concerned over the threat/promise, but then Iris' nose twitches and she warns that rain is coming. She's proven right immediately as stormclouds roll over and rain comes thundering down, but they don't mind running TOWARDS the forest this time, taking shelter in the hollow of a large tree and keeping the fuck away from the mansion.

And so a great episode ends - why great? Because the Litwick weren't misunderstood, there wasn't a compromise reached, they didn't learn a valuable lesson - this was an episode in which several vampire-style Pokémon tried to suck the life energy out of Team Rocket and the twerps and straight up kill them, and the only thing that saved the twerps was sending the monsters to hell to save their own lives. And while Vampires might suck, this episode? This episode rules.
