If you try to harness the power of an unstoppable monster, you're gonna get burnt.

Last episode saw Ash and Brock reunited with Misty, who had come to the Hoenn Region to attend a Togepi Festival, and yes she'd unfortunately bought Togepi with her. Kidnapped by Team Rocket, Misty found herself in the Mirage Kingdom, a small kingdom inside the crater of a desert mountain where tradition dictates the next ruler must find a Togepi in time for a special ceremony. The daughter of the King has been trying to find a Togepi, but so has the military leader of the Kingdom, Colonel Hanson. The episode ended with Colonel Hanson attempting to get Togepi as a mirage of an upside down temple called to Togepi, and one can only wonder if Misty and the twerps will be able to escape the Kingdom, save the day AND somehow manage to lose the vile energy leech Togepi. Unlikely, unless it can find a more powerful source of energy than Misty, any hopes of Togepi leaving are simply....

The smoke clears and Colonel Hanson roars they can't win, ordering a Solar Beam from Shedinja and Hyper beams from his Ninjasks. They prepare to fire and then...... Togepi decides then time has come to end this farce and finally reveals what we've been telling you Gentle Dodgers all along.

It's fucking dangerous.

Yes Togepi is as powerful and monstrous as we always knew and warned you of, Gentle Dodgers, and now that it found a font of ancient Togepi power, it is going to show this Hanson just what a real supervillain can do.
The temple glows, and a blast of energy is dragged from it into Togepi, and when the light clears.... the twerps are gone, leaving behind a confused Team Rocket and an angry Colonel Hanson who stares at the disappearing upside down Temple mirage.

The twerps meanwhile have found themselves in a beautiful garden setting, and Miranda says they are in the Togepi Paradise in the centre of the mirage. Miranda explains she was here once before with Sarah's King, explaining the Kingdom protects the paradise and the paradise protects the Kingdom.... but the paradise appears to be wilting and falling apart. Togepi seems concerned, the Mirage called to it with the promise of power, but now that it is here it has discovered a dying land. It floats through the air and discovers a group of sick and wounded looking Togepi, who have apparently sucked too much energy from the land.

Max tells May to use her Pokedex to try and figure out what is going on in what is supposed to be a paradise, and Dextina tells them it Togepi's are full of the energy that makes people happy, but when near humans with impure hearts it makes them exhausted.

WE KNEW IT! IT FEEDS OFF HAPPINESS AND LOVE! IT IS AN ENERGTY LEECH! WE WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG!

Sarah figures it must be Hanson causing all these problems as his hold over the Kingdom removes the source of the Togepi's power - eating the happiness and joy created by humans to feed their own insatiable appetites.

Meanwhile, Colonel Hanson has taken Team Rocket to the gate to the temple and orders a solar beam from Shedinja, which makes the gate glow blue. Hanson orders his Shedinja and Ninjask to BREAK THE FABRIC OF SPACE AND TIME by firing on one point, and they blow their way into the Togepi Paradise, which turns black and ashen as Togepi flies forward and finds a portal to the outside world. Togepi moves through the portal, but when Ash tries to follow he is knocked back.

Oh shit, Togepi wants to throw down against another Supervillain, and it doesn't want anyone getting in the way!

Outside, Togepi emerges from the gate and Hanson orders Ninjask to capture Togepi, and they blast it with Shadowball, sending it crashing to the ground as the twerps cry out in terror from their side of the portal and Hanson lifts Togepi triumphantly high.

Misty becomes enraged and smashes against the portal angrily trying to break though as her link with Togepi calls her to come and protect her fallen leech. Ash joins her to try and help, while the group of sick Togepi glow blue and open the portal, returning the twerps to the Mirage Kingdom.
Inside the throneroom, Hanson appears with the Togepi and tells the King that the Togepi is his, and when the King insists that it is Misty's, Hanson argues that it has chosen him (in the traditional "collapsing unconscious into the arms of the chosen one" fashion!) and the guards grab the King to take him away to the dungeons.
The twerps head towards the castle, trying to figure out a strategy to fight Shedinja, figuring a Fire Pokemon is needed, and then they see Jesse appearing on a television screen in the streets. She tells them that Hanson is the new King, and they're about to take part in the Coronation Ceremony. Ash promises Sarah that they'll find her parents AND Togepi, and Misty smiles and says Sarah might not believe it, but Ash has been known to fulfill his promises too. He snaps that there was no reason for her not to believe it, and then Brock roars that his love will save them, and Misty drags him away by the ear while May and Max watch on, still impressed.

In the Castle, Team Rocket bow before Hanson, saying they're curious about what their new positions will be now that he is to be King..

"CAN I BE A PRINCE!?!?" asks James eagerly.

But Hanson growls he no longer has any need for them, and in an almost bored fashion orders a Solar Beam/Hyperbeam combo that sends Team Rocket blasting off again.

Awwww.

Taillow and Beautifly have scouted the castle and reported back to the twerps, but they haven't seen the King or Queen. Brock tells Ash and Misty to go get Togepi while they break into the tower, and May says she is going along with them.

Inside, Hanson declares himself the King and puts Togepi down onto an altar, causing it to glow as an old Priest says that he is truly worthy to be the King of Mirage. But as he grins in triumph, an earlier decision is coming back to bite him on the ass. Team Rocket stagger back into the city, determined to get him back for betraying and double-crossing them before they had a chance to betray and double-cross him!

They spot Brock, Max and Miranda running after Mudkip which they are trying to use to track the King and Queen, and that gives Jesse an idea!
They rush ahead of Brock and the others and set up a fake fortunetelling booth, wearing robes and veils and telling Brock that which he seeks is in a chamber under Colonel Hanson's house. They're surprised and turn to thank the "fortune tellers" only to find that.... they're gone!

Meanwhile, King Hanson steps out beneath the mirage Temple and holds up Togepi, roaring for it to use Metronome and unleash its hidden power to open the gate to the Togepi Paradise!

And nothing happens.

Taillow flies in and Hanson orders Shedinja and Ninjask to get them, and then discovers the twerps waiting for him.

HEY TRAINERS WHICH OF THESE EVOLVES INTO MARSHTOMP? MUDKIP, SURSKIT OR MARILL? IF YOU SAID MARSHTOMP THEN YOU'RE NOT AS MUCH OF A DROOLING RETARD AS ALL THAT DROOLING SUGGESTS!

Misty demands Togepi back and May says he won't get away this time, but Hanson doesn't care, he sends in Ninjask, only for tone to get blown away by Ember before the other blasts Torchic with Shadowball. May calls it back and Pikachu thunderbolts the Ninjask, knocking them out, but then Shedinja fires with Solar Beam only for....

HARK! THE TOGEPI ARE SWARMING!

Like monsters from another dimension (well that is what they are) they both use Metronome and beam energy into Togepi, feeding it the energy they have been sucking from the Kingdom for generations. Togepi awakens with the fury of a Supervillain wronged and blasts Hanson away with a roar and then.... oh my holy fucking shit, it's over, it's the end.

COMES NOW THE BIRTH OF AN ABORTION! COMES NOW.... TOGETIC!

It flies up to Misty, no longer bound to being carried in her arms, then turns and glares at Hanson, ready to put an end to him now that it has an army of Togepis under its control.

Shedinja fires a Solarbeam at Togetic, but the abomination blocks the attack with Safeguard as Sarah warns Hanson that he is making a big mistake in thinking Togetic's defensive posture makes them weak. She yells that it is this kindness that has given Togetic its power... .and then Safeguard grows and grows and Hanson realises that he is facing true power now, while Misty fulfils one last function for her Vile Energy Leech Thingy, and calls out her latest Pokemon... HOLY FUCK! IT'S A GYRADOS!

WITH FLAMETHROWER!

Shedinja just has time to mutter,"Shi...." before collapsing beaten to the ground, and Hanson is horrified, his best Pokemon just got taken out by one hit and he lost half his moustache! And now there's a very pissed off Gyarados towering over him... and here comes the King!

The guards rush past Shedinja and surround him with spears, while from a distance Team Rocket watch and giggle in delight.

As the sun sets, Togetic watches as the now happy Togepi return to their paradise, and Misty tells Togetic it is time for them to go.... but it has no need of her any longer, and it wants to stay. Sarah suggests that it wants to stay and protect the Togepi, because this is the dark secret of the Mirage Kingdom and the Royal Family. They know the true power of the Togepis, and that is why they "return from whence they came", because the Royals use the power of the Togepis to secure their position and in return create a Kingdom brimming with all the energy and life that the monsters need to sate their hunger.
Misty takes Togetic by the corpse-white clublike limbs and tells it to protect Sarah and her Kingdom too, then hugs it and tells it she loves it before it turns and flies away, it's destiny accomplished as it enters the paradise of the Togepis.

And so the Mirage Temple fades, and Misty stares with tears in her eyes as Sarah says that even without the crown she will do her best to protect the Temple. Then she notices a tiny Togepi by her side, and Misty guesses it is the one she was meant to find, and it leaps with joy into her hands and she hugs it happily as everyone says this is just great, Miranda saying now she can be crowned Queen.

The cycle continues.

The next day by the zeppelin, Misty says her goodbyes and Brock moans that he wants her to say hi to his sisters, and she sighs,"Sure,". She tells May and Max to come visit her at the Cerulean Gym, and tells Ash she wants him to place first at Hoenn. And so she flies away from Ash's life once again, this time without Togepi and thus free to regain the power and life that first made her such an interesting character. But as she leaves to move on with her life, we see what may be the beginning of the end for us all. Inside the Togepi Paradise, energy is flowing freely into their world once more and the Togepis drink their fill, roaring with drunken laughter as they gorge on happiness and life.

And floating above them, watching with dark glee, is the one who will rule over them all, and perhaps one day the entire human race.

For Togetic, this is only the beginning.
